The relative impossibility of obtaining motorcycle helmets in 1950s Japan turned out to be a stroke of luck for hatmaker Hirotake Arai. Since there was no domestic helmet manufacturer at the time and imports were very difficult, the passionate motorcyclist unceremoniously set up his own company production.

Based on this foundation, Arai gained a worldwide reputation as a helmet manufacturer from the mid-1970s under Hirotake's son Michio Arai. In addition to products for everyday use on motorcycles, motor scooters and scooters, the company also gained a foothold in motorsports. Formula 1, Moto-GP, rallying - wherever people travel extremely fast on motorcycles or cars, Arai helmets are still worn today. Sebastian Vettel, for example, drove to his world championship titles with Arai.
